Oh boy! So, Ms. Jen, Sofia's teacher, told me the other day that Sofia doesn't like recess. She explained it that in Montessori, some kids don't like recess because they are so focused on their work that they don't like the change, while others need the break. Makes sense. Anyhow, I think it must be genetic - I hated recess as a kid. I faked sore throats and anything I could to get out of it.
Then, Sofia, after a long conversation about why she couldn't marry Emerson (Sofia: oh, so did God and Jesus say that? Me: um, perhaps honey. um, it has to do with genetics, honey... you have genes from daddy and from mommy, and so does Emerson, and that means you can't mix them... Sofia: oh, so the FAIRIES said that...) Sofia pronounced to me that she wasn't going to marry anybody, but she did want many children. Oh boy. That's what I said when I was a kid! Luckily, I didn't end up following that proclamation... I'm guessing she won't either.

magical tummies
Sofia: I'm not going to have a baby in my tummy.
[After some more thought...] Some girls are magic and some are not. You are magic
Me: Why?
Sofia: Because a baby came out of your tummy.
The next day:
Me: Do you want Lhasa to get up on your bed?
Sofia: Yes. Did she come out of a doggie's tummy?

dead bugs
Sofia: Mama, I saved a bug from a spider web!
Me: Oh, great [insert sigh]. Is it alive?
Sofia: No.
Me: Oh, do you want to put it in the trash?
Sofia: Sure. Well, no. I want to put it outside. It will start flying soon.

MY mommy
Yesterday, Sofia said to me, "You're MY mommy. Emerson doesn't have a mommy." I said, "So who is Emerson's mommy?" She replied, "I don't know. We have to call somebody."
