emmo's story

Emerson is putting two and three words together. He is also using words to tell what I imagine are very detailed stories! The other night, Kent decided to mock falling off a chair, to show Emerson why he needs to sit down. What I got later from Emerson was (adding emphasis with his hands):

Dada
Fall
Chair
Bonk!
Owee!
Safe.

What I interpreted was:

Dada - Yes, Daddy?
Fall - Daddy fell?
Chair - Off the chair.
Bonk! - Did Daddy get hurt?
Owee! - Oh, ouch!
Safe. - Is Daddy being safe now?

While our tile was being installed, Emerson had an elaborate story of how Daddy knocked out the tile, then Ken came in and did more banging around, then he scraped the walls, then stuck the tiles on. It was something like this:

(Emerson gesturing emphatically, while staring wide-eyed at the bathroom)
Dada boom boom!
Boom boom Ken!
Scrape, scrape Ken!
Stuck. Tile.

It is such a wonder to hear what's really going on in his head!

sewing

I was busy sewing for Christmas this year! Here are a few of my projects: The dolls were a friend’s idea, and she calls them “travelling dolls”. Basically, they are like 3-dimensional paper dolls, with 1-dimensional dresses that velcro on. The case is on one side a bed with a pillow sewn in, and the other side holds the clothes.

Sofia's doll is "Rose", and she plays with her a LOT!! I plan to make a boy doll for Emerson, and paint some jeans on, so he’ll just change the shirts. Rose has pink eyes (Sofia's choice) and shoes, and you can’t see it, but she also has pink panties, which I painted on the back, and a blue-pearl necklace! The red/brown doll is Rylie’s.

The other picture is of a door-way puppet theatre I made for the kids for Christmas. I have yet to make puppets to go with it so they will actually PLAY with it, but the idea was fun!

Thanksgiving

Lyle, Jade and Rylie came over after Thanksgiving. We had fun going to the park, enjoying the amazing weather!

Fia's 2nd dance performance

Our little dancer! :) The one where she's raising her hand - she had a question for Ms. Kelly just before the dance began.

bathroom done!

Our tile project has been coming along at the pace of a snail since Thanksgiving. Finally, we're finished! Here's the result:

It is so nice to bathe again! :)
